About Panaf Institute

of Paralegal Studies

The idea of the Pan African Institute of Paralegal Studies, Abuja was conceived out of a gap observed in the legal profession in terms of lack of support staff (legal executives) in the judiciary, law firms and law enforcement agencies. This observation became the driving force for Barrister Panaf Olajide Olakanmi that eventually birthed Pan– African Institute of Paralegal Studies.

Admission & Aid

At Panaf Institute of Paralegal Studies, we prepare you to launch your career in Legal by providing a supportive, creative, and professional environment from which to learn practical skills.

Who is a Paralegal

Paralegals are often referred to as Legal Executives. These are persons with legal skills who can be employed or wish to be employed by a lawyer, governmental agencies, or other entities in a capacity or function which involves the performance of legal work.

  • They also assist law enforcement agencies, the judiciary, professional bodies, financial institutions, and corporations.
  • Consequently, paralegals are expected to have a sound basic knowledge of the legal principles relevant to the field in which they are working. Although not qualified to represent clients in court, Paralegals perform various important legal tasks and administrative duties.
  • For example, the paralegal relieves the workload of the attorney by performing most of the routine legal work, drafting, documentation and research. No wonder then that when paralegals are recruited into any of paramilitary organizations, they perform exceedingly well. A paralegal is equally eligible to become a fully trained lawyer if he/she wishes.
